So Francois and I are preparing to leave for our 11 months of travel, starting September 15th!
I am mostly writing this entry as a practice run seeing as I am completely new to the blogging world. I figured it would be better to mess up an entry on packing as opposed to our description of a beautiful beach in Thailand.
So...packing up our apartment has been a great exercise in patience...mostly with one another :o) I would like to think we are getting better at this as a couple - seeing as we are on at least our third move together. Not so sure about this though. I take solace in the knowledge that transitions are hard for everybody. So if we cannot decide about whether we should really hold on to a VHS about the eruption of Mount Saint Helens, I like to think we are not alone.
In spite of the inevitable challenges of moving, we are starting to think that we should continue this ritual at least every two years to avoid accumulating stuff. Surely this year of living out of a backpack will help us get in touch with living as simply as possible.
Fortunately, a friend and old colleague of mine is subletting our furnished apartment, meaning we only had to pack up our personal stuff. A big thanks to Fernand and Lise for storing our things...and not to mention all their instrumental support while we will be away.
Cheers to our final few weeks in Montreal. We will be wrapping up work and saying goodbye to friends and family. So I'm signing off for the first entry. Most likely the next one will be when we are on a new continent :o)
